Totally off-topic but I own a small employee sourced holding of Barrick shares myself, they were a really good entrepreneurial company up to about 2013 then they had a lot of things go against them and seemed to lose their way a bit with divestments and frolics/bad luck in Tanzania. No doubt that Barrick are now in the rebuilding phase.

All the stuff about giving employees "ownership" is from the original Barrick corporate DNA back in the days of the Plutonic/ Homestake/ Placer Dome / Delta Gold / Aurion Gold merger days.

Anyway - back on-topic - a very strange ASX query and one that could have saved the ASX some paper, and some embarrassment by simply opening the Business section of the Australian and actually reading the article by Paul Garvey. But I guess thats too obvious for them as TBR mentioned the press speculation in their trading halt request.

There is an even funnier ASX price and volume enquiry over at EAR that just as silly, apparently it was a huge surprise for the ASX people that the increasing AUD price of gold last week actually affected the share price of EAR...
