TWO weeks spent sitting on a beach in Hawaii saw CuDeco chairman David Taylor lose inspiration for staying on as chairman of the embattled Gold Coast copper miner.
The Brisbane lawyer yesterday resigned as chairman and director of CuDeco, effective immediately.
Mr Taylor told the Gold Coast Bulletin his Hawaiian holiday and a new business venture were behind his decision to quit the company, which copped a battering in the past year, ousted its controversial founder Wayne McCrae and struggled to find the cash to stay afloat.
Mr Taylor had also faced a fiery reception from shareholders when he chaired CuDeco’s annual meeting on the Gold Coast in December.
Angry shareholders threatened to complain to the corporate watchdog, saying their concerns about the company, its finances and future direction were being ignored.
“I returned to Australia on Monday after spending the previous two weeks sitting on a beach in Hawaii,” Mr Taylor told the Bulletin yesterday.
