The chairman of ailing vacuum cleaner group Rod Walker says it's not appropriate for him to divulge his "private discussions" with departed chief executive of Godfreys, Kathy Cocovski, who has stepped down after just five months in the job.
But Mr Walker told The Australian Financial Review on Wednesday morning her departure had nothing to do with the performance of the company which had been trading okay in a difficult environment where Brexit, an eight-week election campaign and uncertainty over the election result was weighing on consumer confidence.
"The last month or two it's been a little bit more positive," Mr Walker said of the performance at Godfreys.
He wouldn't be specific when asked if he had tried to talk Ms Cocovski out of quitting after such a short time.
"Kathy's just made a decision to move on. That's the appropriate word, it is disappointing," Mr Walker told the Financial Reivew.
