I don't disagree with you in a lot of ways, but I know the JORC code has caused a number of retractions in the last few years so I also don't blame the ASX in reviewing this one.
It is likely (not definite) that someone requested the ASX to review the release. With several thousand stocks listed, most of which being sub-100 million market cap and reporting season in play, the ASX is likely pretty stretched/busy at the moment so it's easier to be safe than sorry.
I'm on the fence of whether this release required clarification so I can see both sides of where people are coming from.
