Redback Technologies has a battery management technology that has just announced it will use its battery agnostic energy management software to go global in a buy in by The Fifth Estate (the University of Qld commercialisation arm). In effect this is going home to momma as Redback Technologies energy management IT (controlling batteries and inverters, learning energy use patterns at a location, buying and selling power locally) were developed in the university anyway.
Redback lacks an investment platform. A merger with listed company Go Energy would provide the exposure to more capital and public backing that Redback needs. It would also provide serious brain power to Go Energies intellectual property differentiation needs.
Brian Thomas may have stepped aside as Redback's Phil Livingston takes an inhouse, hands on role to the chairmanship. Seeing Livingston in an interview you don't want to get between him and a corporate goal.
