"PeriCoach Version 3 1 May 2017, Brisbane Australia. Analytica Ltd (ASX: ALT) has today released the first production units of the next generation Version 3 PeriCoach® device. The device is an integral part of the PeriCoach system which includes a smartphone app and data management system. The version 3 device implements significant improvements in processing capability, wireless connectivity and power management, over-the-air firmware update capability, as well as enhanced user experience. An important advance for the v3 device is the inclusion of an accelerometer and gyroscope ‘chip’ also found in mobile phones and other wearable technology. This component allows the system to sense the motion of the device during a pelvic floor exercise session. In a clinical setting, pelvic floor physiotherapists look for a “squeeze and lift” muscle action when examining patients for correct exercise technique, and these actions are measured by the v3 PeriCoach force and motion sensors respectively. Analytica has patents registered and pending on the movement technology and force sensor arrangement. The new v3 hardware, combined with the force sensors that directly measure pelvic floor muscle squeeze force, will allow the system to make an assessment about exercise technique by comparing the sensor signals against a database of correct and incorrect technique signatures. Analytica CEO Geoff Daly said: “We’re very excited about the release of v3. Externally the v3 does not look much different but inside it’s got some great new technology. Key opinion leaders have told us from this product’s inception that correct technique is critical to the efficacy of pelvic floor exercise. Their message is that poor technique leads to poor results, and that causes women to simply give up. When half of all women don’t do their exercises correctly to start with, the dropout rate has a big impact on clinician’s faith in pelvic floor exercise and many time-poor clinicians simply hand their patients a pamphlet.” “The v3 has the potential to break this circle, helping more women to do their exercises correctly, getting better outcomes, and restoring conservative treatments as the first step before jumping to surgery.” “Advancing the hardware lays the foundation. Expect to see further developments in software and functionality this quarter as we analyse anonymised v3 real-world data and develop the treatment algorithms. Real-world patient data will provide insights into clinical practice, guide improvements for product development, and deliver evidence of the product’s efficacy for women, clinicians, and potential licensees.” “There are a lot of toys making noise in the market. PeriCoach is the only serious medical device using evidence to target this enormous and mostly hidden issue of pelvic floor health.” For more information, please contact: [email protected]
