Have a read of the numerous posts on this topic regarding why Anglogold Ashanti let the project go. Nothing to do with project economics, all to do with market conditions in 2012/13, new CEO, rationalisation of global capex budget & pre-commitment to the US$2.2bn capex cost for the 20Moz Kibali JV with Rand Gold.
In the grand scheme of things, A-K was too small for them at the time...
