Didn't they try this about 6 months ago but the wail of shareholder disapproval stopped them ? In bed with both Aminex & Ras al Khaima Gas. I vividly remember a top level meeting in Ras al Khaima attended by senior Tanzanian ministers & RAK Crown Prince where certain decisions were taken. Like other loyal holders I am furious at the company's deceitful behaviour. You can't compare a teeny weeny possible cup of oil in Hampshire with the untold millions of barrels of oil or gas being discovered in East Africa. Companies at a similar stage off the coast of WEST Africa are valued at dollars per share.
I am beginning to think The Year of The Rabbit is not looking too good for Ozzie oilers in East Africa. Maybe Ken & the directors should re arrange the furniture in the room (good fengshwei for business) & promptly defenestrate.
The comparison that comes to mind is the loss of the Suez Canal by the Khedive Ishmael- a topical Egyptian example. Ishmael, King of Egypt, loved to gamble & the crafty Disraeli tricked him out of ownership- which was not rectified until Nasser took it back. Well, we've been tricked out of our African possessions by our board of directors- and I don't think anyone's going to give them back anytime soon.
I don't think I'll ever sit on the verandah of an old hotel in Zanzibar now, looking out over my oil wells having a gin & tonic and citronella.
