Four days after the Rajasthan Congress leaders met the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in New Delhi to request for a probe into an alleged scam in allotting mines that took place under the Vasundhara Raje government, the State government, cancelled 601 mining allocations.
On Saturday night the State government cancelled 548 Letters of Intent (LoI) and 53 licences that had been issued under the current government after a committee appointed by the government found that some mining allocations were made hastily under the garb of the ‘first come first serve’ norm.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje requested Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh for an enquiry into the distribution of LoI and licences to the 601 firms to be done by the Lokayukta, to which the Governor agreed.
