MacAirports has 'robust' month 09:34, Monday, 19 February 2007
Sydney - Monday - February 19: (RWE Australian Business News) - Macquarie Airports CEO reports its airports continue to enjoy "great success" with their airline marketing programs and this is reflected in another robust month for traffic growth across the portfolio in January. Sydney Airport rose 6 per cent on January last year. Copenhagen Airport in particular benefited from increased capacity in January. MAP says it is clear that Sydney Airport continues to be the favoured gateway for airlines entering Australia with Etihad Airways announcing its first services to Australia, three times weekly between Abu Dhabi and Sydney from March, rising to a daily service from June. Jetstar International will add a sixth destination from Sydney in September, flying three times weekly to Kuala Lumpur. The decline in traffic at Bristol Airport was attributable to a period of flight cancellations and runway closure between 5-8 January for operational reasons. Underlying growth at Bristol was around 4% despite some weather related disruption towards the end of the month. ENDS
