Did your research not include looking at the Zoono website? In History and Overview they mention a 1910 origin but they apply such weight to the German contribution between the wars that they state : 1930s Technology discovered by German scientists.
In the same section they state that Zoono's development (9th generation product) has addressed the issues of short shelf live and loss of veracity outside a narrow temperature range.
As an investor in Zoono I am of course prepared to put some faith in what they say. Also I think the success of their product makes nonsense of the idea that just anyone could enter the market.
