I can remember once being told that stocks like Emperor, G M K, Sons of Gwalia, Barrack mines and many others, were at bargain prices when they fell to the penny dreadful stage. Despite their previous blue chip status at various times in their careers they all bit the dust and that was one of the most important lessons I ever learnt as an investor. Never stay emotionally attached to a stock when it gets into severe difficulties, the success rate is very small. Believers or astute punters they are all speculators.
