In my mind, I correlate AD8 to Microsoft office in the early years.
When PC's first came out, there were a number of different spreadsheets and word processor programs, and each was vying for market share. As Business adopted PC's more and more, it quickly became apparent that having a common software platform increased productivity immensely. So edicts came fro the IT department that the only software to purchase was brand "X". this created commonality within a business. The problem then arose that when businesses communicated to one another, the different software suites being operated between businesses still causes some problems, so, over time, Microsoft office became the standard.
There are still different word processor and spreadsheet software out there, but Office won the race and collected the "winner take all" prize.
I see the same thing happening with AD8. Competitor software will still be out there, but over time, AD8 will
a) win greater market share and
b) as market size grows, wins the majority of that new business.
