There are multiple scenarios in play here.
AIS HLX merger, AIS would love from surface dirt in Cobar but busy at Torrens.
TLM HLX merger, not sure its in play but the two combined would have nearly the best underexplored real estate in Cobar if joined, this would have majors salivating.
SFR cash and scrip takeover to fast track Collerina as a production asset. This would give AIS the Tom Tits but currently AIS cash poor.
AMI same as SFR scenario.
IGO looking for growth but not sure about if they want Cobar assets.
Probably SFR/AMI merger and really start hovering up assets would be smart but unlikely, if this happened PEX and HLX would be first to be eaten.
SBM into PEX and NST into VXR shows that potentially all the Cashed up mid tier golds including SAR,RRL,EVN ect May look at some diversification in asset acquisitions with only a small number of high quality gold projects being available at present.
Obviously not an exhaustive list of potential suitors but all make some financial sense.
Hi 1ForDaMoney, thks for the comment on my MLX post. I agree that things are very interesting at present with consolidation looking likely. SFR is clearly hunting for a replacement project for Degrussa, they recently bid for MOD (still in process) and in The Weekend Australian this weekend there was a short article suggesting they were interested in MLX and/or PAN (the article is posted on the MLX thread).
