In summary, and based on the evidence I presented in the post above, the appointment of Christophe Dabiré to the position of prime minister of BF by the president Kaboré seems like a move by the ruling MPP party to appease supporters of CDP (the old guard) that remain politically entrenched in the north and happen to live in the areas where the greatest numbers of insurgencies have occurred. It seems on face value as being a political move designed to unite the country agianst the influence of the Jihadist.
I must admit however that when I once spoke to Richard he expressed the opinion that "some" of the attacks might be due to political opponents of the government trying to ferment unrest for political advantage, so not all the attacks are necessarily due to Jihadists elements. Often the culprits aren't apprehended and the details of the attacks are sketchy. It could be that some random or deliberate attacks could be ascribed to the Jihadists by the ruling party's political foes just to garner political support for the ruling party's political rivals, ie the Jihadist problem has been partially overblown for political purposes.
This moves looks to me like an appeasement designed to unify, align and strength the government against the real insurgents, which is a good thing if I'm right. Esh
