Interesting article, pity the writer doesn't do any research. BHP no longer produces manganese, these assets were spun off to S32.
You'd be better off investing in a manganese miner if you want to get exposure to manganese. There are two on the ASX, S32 and OMH and shortly there'll be another Jupiter JMS when it relists. JMS has a 49.9% stake in the worlds largest manganese mine, Tshipi which produces 3.3 million tonnes annually. OMH also owns a 13% stake in Tshipi.
Indonesia will NEVER mine manganese ore like they do in South Africa, in Indonesia they walk around picking up a few lumps and bagging them.
No doubt there is a huge market for manganese and the prices currently are very high, its a shame GMC isn't able to take advantage of the situation. If the DSO ever eventuates, the company producing the manganese ore will want a huge cut of the action. (profits). Do you really think that GMC will be making all the profit, I'd suggest that it won't be as lucrative as some on here think.
It was an interesting article its similar to a story thats been doing the rounds for many months promoting Maxtech.
