PDN definitely needs a rise in p of U.
PDN is like an out-of-the-money call option, with a duration of a couple of years. But quite a cheap one.
If an investor is less willing to bet on a turn-around in the p of u within this time horizon, an exploration company without any debt obligations or C&M coss etc. would be a better idea option (in fact equivalent to a deep out-of-the-money call option but with a long duration).
