That's right Datal, the ponds will be established on a less permeable near surface layer (which is why the trenches need to be dug more than just a couple of metres). Nothing new here, currently done at Ogden, Lop Nur and even the dead sea to produce our poor cousin MOP. The guys on the coast have much higher losses being on sandy/marshy surfaces and with a lower static water level. But the available input brine is plentiful and cheap to supply so there's no problem.

Ponds are lined at lithium brine operations where the pond area is much smaller and producing a higher value product. I can't find an SOP project that lines its ponds, or even one that has proposed lining its ponds (i.e. Chrystal Peak).

I'm very keen to understand your confidence around capital cost viability to line ponds at a small-scale SOP operation such as the ones proposed by KLL/SO4/APC.

More flooding/tides hit the ponds on the coast, and causeways have been built since the dawn of time. Not sure if you're just trying to throw confusion into the mix or poorly informed on those points. I'm always happy to have meaningful discussion but not keen on disagreeing for the sake of arguing...
