Thanks Speculator101. I value your posts too and I'm not the only one.
The Qtly imo was good. It states that they are in confidential discussions with a range of parties, a number of which are continuing. This is positive. Also, they have enough cash to last the next qtr according to their estimates.
Finding a Strategic partner is pivotal in determining how it pans out and the market is getting more nervous about it. But according to Fadi Benjamin in his article "There's a pink gold rush for potash" he says:
"However, the large mining companies have decided not to overpay, especially after the failed takeover of PotashCorp. (POT:TSX; POT:NYSE) by BHP. Consequently, sovereign entities from China and a large consortium of potash buyers from India have been coming to Saskatchewan looking at juniors' assets. The drawback for juniors is that these new acquirers are not mining companies. They tend to do a lot of due diligence and are slow at making decisions. Juniors must be prepared for a long ride with these guys before a deal is made."
So it takes time, we started the process with BMO on 8th June so the next 2 months are going to be critical.
I remain an optimist despite the predator amongst us. Iain Macpherson needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat and find a quality Strategic partner for say 1/3rd of the $1.2 billion CAPEX (excluding infrastructure deals) and/or a combination of debt and equity funding for the balance. The PFS delivered some very good numbers so the board should be able to drive a hard deal with the banks and a Strategic investor. We may be able to secure a bankable offtake agreement with a state owned enterprise just like Prospect Global did. Their shares increased 66% in 3 days upon their 22nd October announcement of a $2 billion Offtake agreement with the Chinese. So will our shares rocket with a similar type deal.
If Western potash can attract a $1 billion + Indian investment and Prospect Global can attract a $2 billion 10 year bankable offtake agreement then I have faith that we can find something just as good as we have a world class project.
As I write, I have just received an alert that a Russian Potash developer has secured equity and debt financing for $1.5 billion - Source: Click here
"Russia's Acron agrees $1.5 bln potash project financing" This is more great news, there is huge investment funds going into Potash developers.
If Iain can't achieve this, then we could drift lower to ~30 cents and then fall victim to a cheap takeover by Pala for example or some other predator which would be very sad.
I think the board needs to also look for fresh capital from Asian markets.
