I'm just guessing here but maybe they're hoping that if they own the company and delist they can skirt the freezing of assets. However, I would imagine WEC would seek some legal intervention to head off that. More legal bills, additional legal maneuvering. Could be a tactic to wear down WEC or to simply try and move the chess pieces / distract.
I only came across this now, it all sounds very interesting! Essentially it's an odds game of how likely they are to win, how likely they are to be awarded damages and how likely they are to actually be able to recover that money. Fascinating.
