Projections are for solar power in SA to reach a point in a couple years that electricity cost in the afternoons will be extremely low - some high quality modelling I have seen shows it as potentially negative (ie. having to shed power from the system because so much is being fed in by the sun).

This means pumping the water up the hill in the afternoon for little cost, and then running it back down into the pit when needed for healthy profit.

This project has serious legs.
