Yes it is very interesting. Small scale renewables, battery storage, and the development of micro-grids are clearly the right direction as large-scale power networks have to transition away from fossil fuels, decentralize, and become more resilient. POW is ticking off two of these with this announcement.
Like more info on how Protean pods can directly be deployed in concert with flow batteries in working applications but that I presume will come in time. They are also in an ideal position with their vanadium interests as well, and flow can provide a competitor product to lithium ion batteries.
The battery scale is also important as existing utilities wish to reduce their infrastructure upgrade costs, in favor of more widely distributed supply and storage and those larger batteries are better suited to new micro-grids, small to medium industrial applications and remote communities.
