So sorry, sircorp, that you have been trapped into finding that BDR is a charity.
Sorry too, that you may have been deceived into helping others who like their holidays in the sun.
Nevertheless, please do not judge all the charitable activities by these situations. I am closely involved with a charity and every year I visit a tropical island. Reason being that the charity is based in that nation and carries out activities for the benefit of disabled children and adults. My annual visit is a working time, not a holiday in the sun, and I help in the work of the charity both when there and when at home. All this is at my own expense, just as it is for the other members of the charity who participate. Notwithstanding, our charity is completely dependent on the goodwill of people throughout the world and it does not have any income generating business.
I know that there are other equally motivated charities whose governing members also work on an entirely voluntary basis and yet achieve real benefits for those that their charity exists to help.
