If company A has $100 in assets plus 50% of company B and company B has $100 dollars in assets and 50% of company A.
A+B = $200, that is if I bought both companies outright I'd own $200.
It's incorrect to say that Company A has $100 in assets plus a 50% share in company B which has $100 in assets therefore I will pay $150 for company A.
If that was correct then you'd end up paying $150 for company A and company B for a total of $300 but only get $200 in value.
My maths doesn't extend to working out the exact figures for SOL and BKW but hopefully this explains the idea.
