Hard to know if that is just REX doing some political jawboning or not.
REX was thinking of putting in a tender for rescue and search services (which, when I looked at the tender page, seemed closed when REX announced this- someone can clarify if this is mistaken). REX says it will cost $60m-$70m investment in the first two years if they win the tender:

Virgin have their fellow airlines to support them; QAN is looking for a governmetnnt bailout; REX will have its Singaporean shareholders to support them, I reckon. They could do a big capital raising, and will need to if they win that tender. Still, the tender will allow them to grow without relying on business and leisure travel- no-one can control that, but search and rescue could be a winner.
REX's previous share price low was about 75c in mid-2009. We'll see how she stands up with Friday's ANN. Unlikely to collapse, imo, but they may have bitten off more than they could chew- in these hard times- with their capex program.
