The ore sorter arrived onsite at Norton yesterday - should be producing con for sales in March.
Hmmm separating As from Au. Are you worth a response?
Generally Au, Ag, Cu, Pb, Zn etc are valuable payable content of production whereas As and S are nasties. Although in China if you have roasetr then they remove and capture the S for Sulphuric Acid in industry (so now a payable) and the As as pure Arsenic for sales to the wood treatment industry.
Also metal mines will have oxide or sulphide ores. Unless they are 100% free gold, they both will have very fine grains of Au stuck with S and/or As. Sulphides is a very general term. The grains don't separate apart unless ball milled and then generally leached. This is generally at the ball mill size (0.1mm or 100 microns. This wont happen at Norton as no plant and we will sell high grade con to other roast or leach plants. Those plants are built for, and thus happily accept for either sales or toll treatment these ores with sulphur and arsenic.
Mstar have no ball mill because the vast majority of the gold is coarse and free. As Vertigo said (by doing research) only a minority of the gold at Mstar is NOT free aka sulphides and it gets separated before the gold room and sold to other refiners.
The Sorter wont separate the As from the Au but when I produce an 85g/t Au, 16% S and 8% As con its very sale able.
We were upfront with our MNM ASX releases and showed in our tables of results the Gold and Silver levels BUT ALSO the arsenic and sulphur levels (Revenues and costs).
Thats enough.
