There is a book in the library at Woods Point that details yearly figures for all the district. Tonnes, grades etc.
O3B seems to vusit regularly so maybe he can dig it out and photocopy pertinent pages.
The MS was mined over decades and never produced a high volume of ounces per annum. Eg if mined for 50 years then 20000oz per annum average and that was from the best stuff.
Anyone who has been down through the levels can see the waste from hand sorting neatly stacked throughout the level.
I wonder if anyone has asked current nanagement questions regarding the above?
To put into persoective the number of years the Star was mined to yield its ounces read below....
The township was named Woods Point in April 1863 after storekeeper Mabel Woods, who went prospecting one day and never returned. The richness of the Morning Star Reef turned Woods Point into a major quartz reefing centre. It is estimated that from its opening in 1861 until 1915, the reef produced over £1,000,000 of gold, most of it during the 1860s.
Anyone passing through these towns can find historical records for MS....
