Well, at the last minute, I managed to pop along to the RIU conference!
JP was almost falling over himself with enthusiasm during his presentation. For those of us that have been following GLN, I don't think there were any significant surprises - but as always, there's extra bits and pieces to be gleaned when hearing a presentation and talking with people in person.
A few tit-bits from JP's presentation:
- First off, a great size reference for the Perth audience.... Candelas is approximately the same distance as Perth to Fremantle.
- JP had been in Argentina for 5 weeks, with 3 of those spent on site with the crew.
- The underlying important take away for me; if the 2nd hole results come back as anticipated GLN's resource "isn't going to be small", and GLN have their sites set on "setting up for big success".
- JP talked about when the first brines started coming to the surface, he tasted it .... to quote him "Man, something that tasted so awful, has never tasted so sweet!"
I had a chat with JP, Clive, Terry and Nathan.... they were all great with their time and willingly (and patiently ) talked over things with me.
My overall impression is that they are all feeling very positive, and intend to continue the current momentum for the immediate future (including expanding the current drilling program). So for the short-term, I think we can expect to have some regular and rapid progress being made on site.
Some take aways from me from these chats:
- They seem to have gathered a good group of experienced and knowledgeable people on the ground in Argentina, from the on-site crew, through to their legal representation. This in part is helping with the fast-tracking they've achieved to date.
- They're committed to engaging quality third parties, such as SRK and Major Drilling.
- I suspect JP is itching to be back on site, and probably only came back to Perth to be here in person for the RIU conference to press the flesh and talk first hand about the project and progress (which IMO it's a good thing he was there).
- I think things over the next few weeks are going to be very interesting!
Oh - and whilst all attention is rightly on Candelas, let's not forget about the western tenements... obviously these need to be confirmed with drilling, but the theory having been proven on Candelas bodes well for Pata Pila, etc.... these on their own have the potential to be classed as a viable concern.
