i think its a good move, purely for the increased efficiency and synergies. sure, BPT isn't as good as DLS, but did DLS really have the clout and financial firepower to grow from where they were? were DLS paying a div? They were starting to fight field decline, too. As an investor, its just easier to lump it all into one entity now. I had many more DLS than BPT and will prob buy more of each. once we get through this downturn, i reckon they'll be able to up the div too. i just hope they transfer some of DLS's savvy ops managers and workers responsible for that amazing OPEX/bbl figure.

The way I see it, the company is now prepped to rerate when oil returns. if i were a recent DLS holder, i'd be selling to take that profit and buying BPT at this price. the new entity will be multiples of BPT's current sp in years to come and now they have the weight to do something special. the answer for growth will still have to come from overseas in my opinion. I just hope they don't screw it up again, as BPT and WPL are well known for doing. Maybe they could take some of STO's assets. STO actually haven't done such a bad job in Asia. Asia is the logical place for the new BPT to try and grow. I'm excited that this new entity will now be a set and forget for aussie O&G (alongside no. 1 & 2, OSH and WPL) and i can count on it to return well on the back of an inevitable oil price rebound.
