Brookfield and Apollo have half a trillion + of USD assets between them - so financing will no long be an issue.
The only issue is whether Jangho will be a willing minority in this new scheme. It is a minnow, but they offer a vehicle to access the mainland market, and a platform for cross trade into the party’s belt and road initiative.
The value impetus is for Brookfield to take the lead; the synergies and cost savings from merging Healthscope and Healius would be magnificent.
Timing is everything - I believe Brookfield was dragging its feet on Healtscope - now I can see why it had the confidence to finalize its offer - because they can use the same team to run three companies under a new vehicle:
1) Healthscope
2) Healius
3) Vision Eye Institute (assuming Jangho sells assets into a new vehicle)
This is the most exciting and transformatice/innovative deal I have seen in the Australian Healthcare market, given everyone wins with the upside for global market potential.
I want to know who had architected this deal, they deserve a prize - Jangho is the biggest winner, so I suspect it may be their advisors (Macquarie).
