It would indeed appear to be great news. The delayed confirmation by EWC may be by reason of politics and protocol. Remembering several years ago when they got ahead with announcements and back then BPMigas became offside. They may be just being respectful in allowing the Indonesian parties to announce first. Information coming forward has suggested the involvement of a Indonesian associate partner becoming involved .
The next stage will be the renegotiation of the Sengkang PPA for the powerstation. From my understanding the powerplant is not under Build Operate Transfer BOT but Build Operate Own. BOT is mandatory for projects from 2017 with new PPA Power Purchase Agreement having a maximum of 30years duration. PLN can purchase the power plant from EWC at a price determined by a established formula, but have given no indication of such direction.
At the Feb 2018 presentations it was presented that with successful negotiations of the Sengkang PSC extension and establishment of a new PPA with PLN for the powerstation then there was the scope of 2 possible additional 400mw upgrades to Sengkang subject to successful permissions from the appropriate authorities. The successful negotiation of the new Sengkang gasfield PSA Production Sharing Agreement is the solid foundation for all of the previously mentioned and serious congratulations to all of those in those negotiations.
I concur with Oranje with the Philippines loan now in its final stage of bank committee review and hopefully implementation soon. Things are starting to look more and more promising.
