Daniel77, One of the problems with market cap is that it is as you have pointed out it is subject solely to investors whims (and or dreams) and as such is it an accurate measure of a company's true worth? Also the mere fact of finding anything does not automatically increase the SP and as a result the market cap, as I said the Company could find something and if the SP remains the same therefore does the market cap. The only way that the market cap can increase (market cap; no of shares on issue X the share price = market cap) is for the SP to increase first, not the other way around, and so again it lies with the whims of investors.
