PLS have seen a meteoric rise in SP after a massive discovery, potentially unearthing a Greenbushes-esque deposit. Obviously shareholders are stoked and the company is well placed.
Now, the MPJ areas may hold a large deposit, a mediocre deposit, or nothing to write home about. When you've just struck gold, would you focus all your attention there or start digging around the place to see what else is about? What if there's a bloke/shiela who wants to do the hard work, and you know you'll be in a position to potentially buy his area off him/her when you're already established with infrastructure nearby and a stack of cash?
Seems to me like buying an area nearby and exploring there when you're sitting on such a massive orebody is an unnecessary risk, and would detract from developing the holy grail. Also, the synergies going forward should PLS buy this area will hold value, should MPJ find anything and be presented a reasonable offer.
Cheers,
PS.
