I suppose time will be the judge on who has the right slant here - hopefully for the people of Mindanao it will be me.
The Maute family ran the biggest drug business on Mindanao before Duterte came to power and his crackdown on the drug trade severely crimped their business and I believe this was their incentive in joining with Abu Sayyaf to cause havoc in Marawi City.
I haven't been to Mindanao but would have thought from all accounts that Davao is one of the safest places on the island.
Duterte has to at least try to fix the problems on Mindanao - if he can get rid of some or all of these stand-over gangs/thugs then the Muslim population might be able to live in peace as happens in most parts of the world and there definitely has been substantial progress against ISIS in Syria recently and I'm sure Duterte has the support of several other countries in the region to make sure that this current fight in the Philippines turns out to be an isolated uprising that will be crushed shortly. Duterte will then drive the rest of them into the Sulu Sea as I'm sure he's not going to let up on them until he's wiped them out.
I'm sure Medusa hasn't got anything to worry about from the anti-mining lobby as even Gina Lopez gave us a good wrap - see article of our website. And even Duterte has said since coming to power that the economy couldn't live without the money that comes from mining.
I think anyone that was going to sell this share has already done so, so expecting little reaction tomorrow and on Tuesday from overseas traders. And only one week or less to the quarterly and my expectations of a good-feel document.
