Is a very sweeping statement. Care to elaborate?
If you look at my post, I was suggesting batteries on PEA's Vic hydro, not on Nova. And I thought I explained why. The peak pricing available to Nova which you point to so vigorously would then be available to the hydro output - generated at a fraction of the cost.
One should be careful extrapolating December and January demand and pricing - when air conditioning runs hard - across a year. Yes, you did acknowledge this data limitation before proceeding to extrapolate anyway.
It is bizarre that you mourn the passing of Hazelwood, one of the dirtiest generators on the planet.
Australia will never build another coal-fired power station. It looks highly unlikely we would build new gas generators either. The future looks like solar, wind and batteries, simply on economics. They are already strikingly cheaper than fossil fuel generation.
Thank you for correcting me on Nova being reciprocating engines not gas turbines.
