From mywealth.commbank website today:
"OZ Minerals (ASX:OZL) has completed the latest step in a full review of its operations, selling its 19.1% stake in Sandfire Resources (ASX:SFR) and raising gross proceeds of $125m.
Copper and gold miner OZ Minerals had said it sold the stake because it did not plan a more involved relationship with metals company Sandfire.
OZ Minerals said it made a cash gain of $2.5m on its original investment in Sandfire in 2010, as well as subsequent investments and dividends. OZ Minerals sold the shares at $4.20 each, a 1.75% discount to Sandfire’s last traded price before both companies halted trading in their shares.
However, OZ Minerals said it expects an accounting loss on the transaction due to mark-to-market valuation – recording the price at its market value rather than its value on the books – as of 31 December 2014.
“The audited results of this transaction will be reported as at 30 June 2015,” OZ Minerals said.
Overall business review
The sale is part of OZ Mineral’s business review, to be completed in April and covering all aspects of the business as it nuts out solutions to falling commodities prices.
As part of the review, OZ Minerals has said it would move its corporate office to Adelaide from Melbourne to be nearer its operations in South Australia, cut staff numbers, and suspend the sale of its stake in the Carrapateena copper and gold project in South Australia.
Meanwhile, Sandfire managing director Karl Simich welcomed new investment to help expand the company’s portfolio of international business development.
OZ Minerals shares were 8 cents, or 2%, lower at $3.71 and Sandfire Resources was 8 cents, or 1.8%, down to $4.20 as of 10.45am AEDT as the overall market market was down nearly 1%."
What chance Posco follows suit? - assuming of course that there be a willing buyer or multiple buyers at a suitable price. A benchmark has been set though by this big transaction, so the same price? As at 10/9/14 Posco held 23.756m shares.
