I would tend to agree with Dolce on certain styles of discontinuities.

 

"Discontinuities contain a relative paucity of mineralisation" - The actual fault structure that offsets mineralisation probably doesn't contain any mineralisation (except in special cases) so the "definition" would be correct in that respect so consider the following and see what you think.

While the geology is very different to Opasura IMO the basic principles are present at various levels.

At Opasura there are zones of mineralisation which are like zone A in the above image.  There will be VARIABILITY [=grade, thickness and composition=along the A plane but that, in simple terms, is likely to be independent of later structures.

Bed A was formed earlier than the structure marked 1 and, in the case of simple physical offset, the discontinuity created is not likely to change the grade of mineralisation in A.

These structural discontinuities are visible in the mining proposals.  I asked about them when a relevant slide was put up at the AGM.  TR and GJ said there is considerable structure present - faults and folds Plus variable grades of mineralisation.  [Can't remember but I suspect there may have been an image with more detail of Op E at the AGM - the different magenta blocks represent stacked and offset potential ore zones for mining in a pit where everything will be taken at both east and West Opa.]

 However, most is not fatal to the economics of sections of the deposit - my words since most areas shown at Opasura East that have higher structural complexity are within the 14:1 strip ratio open pit and can be extracted economically using current study parameters.  

Some (All?) would not be economic in an underground situation and different economic parameters (as discussed at length elsewhere though management may have a different view)
