I m not accusing anyone of anything, but if this was the script of a good movie, it would be a good one when everything was nicely orchestrated and schemed going hand in hand.

Reminds me of 7/11 paying their stuff legit but then they had to pay back the boss in cash to keep their job.
If something smells, then there is a good reason why it smells in my opinion.
