Looking for a little oil drilling industry input. The shear and packer equipment got stuck down an oil drill hole back in the 1960's. It has now been removed. I was wondering if these tools were used when plugging a hole only? Could they also be used on the way down or only on the way out once the target depth has been acheived?
What scenearios might shear and packer equipment be used?
