The ASX ann today confirms NSP management's statement at the EGM on 28 Feb of the product launch they were intending to do in the US. What may not be clear to readers here is that the two largest gel manufacturers, Bio-Rad and Invitrogen, together have 95% of the US market and each produces their own gel tank to fit their own branded gel cassettes. NSP's cassette dimensions have now been matched to fit either major company's tank and can therefore expand into those markets. (See slides 31 & 32 of 1 March presentation.)
At the EGM the CSO John Andrews gave a major part of the presentation as well as an actual full demonstration in obtaining a sample gel, and enabling viewing of it in UV light, all in the duration of the 1 1/2 hour meeting. The improved ability to resolve fine protein bands was quite marked. (They call this enhanced separation.) (See slide #15 of presentation) The storage life of Nusep gels compared with competitors was also impressive. Each of the advantages listed is very real and desirable. Therefore, provided the information percolates throughout the market, Nusep has a winner here. Arranging launches at HUPO Conferences in N. Carolina is a key way to help this along. I take due notice of the Facebook page marketing technique. General market analysis suggests that if any company has excellent products they will want clients /customers to discuss this openly with one another and facebook is a free powerful means to generate such debate. It will be interesting to see the response now that NSP has offered to pay $100 if the researcher posts a run using the new gels on Facebook. $100 is also the profit on just one box of gels.
Note that Nusep had 0.7% of US gel market share and is aiming at 7% of market by end of this year. (Comment from meeting.)
All stops are out at present advancing the Singapharm manufacturing facility. Since the volumes for separations will increase dramatically there will be corresponding demand for large area membranes. The areas required will be ~10 m^2 which is colossal when compared with that in a single small tank ~5 cm^2. Howwever, this can be reasonably easily done by re-commissioning their CMM (Continuous Membrane Machine) used in an earlier era and shown in slide 23. It is just great that such fantastic unique equipment is available at virtually no cost (the development cost written off by GDY long ago).
There was no comment posted here about the 1 March presentation but it contains some most useful information.
