The Daido HRE free bonded mag worked so well for Honda in the Freed that they are using it again in a new hybrid model to be released next year, with PMM on both front & back axles.
But it is not so much HRE free EV that is the issue but the fact it has been reduced/deleted in the majority of other applications, creating plenty of supply to meet demand growth in EV for many years.
