All businesses need to find ways to keep growing if they are to prosper long term. A prawn farmer contemplating extra ponds for example, can achieve the same increase in production capacity by switching to Novacq without the capital outlay, and at the same time lowering per unit input costs other than feed.
If performance is as reported, then once individual farms start converting to Novacq there is no going back. It will be interesting to see whether the farms start marketing larger prawns or increase the number of production cycles or both. Unless Ridley licenses the technology to other feed producers, China and Vietnam will be the only viable long term competitors.
