We are comming back to the SMON problem in Japan. Clioquinol was a very good in treating diarhoae, too good and people used it for years and developed SMON (?). PBT2 is more developed form of clioquinol. Perhaps that is the reason UQ group used PBT2, with lot of clinical study results. Normal clioquinol could not get to the market easily, perhaps PBT2 could get there when there is no other ways to help these bad infections. But co-operation is needed and that is a good thing IMO.
