Some points to consider when weighing this up:
- retail investors who hold WBT are disproportionately more likely to have invested in other high-risk stocks - so are disproportionately more likely to have been involved in a consolidation that turned out badly - so statements like "this has always turned out badly for me" should be taken with caution.
- the outcome of any other consolidation - good or bad - needs to be considered within the context of what was happening with that stock, and how well it was managed.
- my perception of the Weebit team is that they just put their heads down and do what needs to be done. I've not seen indications of misleading investors. On the contrary, I've seen steps taken with the best interest of the success of the product in mind, even if the share price may need to suffer in the short-term. Considering management have generally demonstrated they seem to know what they are doing, and have been very good about keeping investors informed, I think it is most plausible that they are fully aware of the problems with consolidation; fully aware that the SP may take a beating as a result - but have weighed those risks against the long-term advantages to successful commercialisation and partnerships;
Personally, I'm tempted to sell all my holding and buy-back after the dust settles because, judging by sentiments here, I see there will be a pressure on the sell side from people panicking about this. However, given how small all my share holdings are, when I've done this is the past it is a lot of fussing around for small profits by the time brokerage is taken out. So this time around I think my strategy will be to watch, and maybe take advantage of the fuss to increase my holding if the fundamentals continue to strengthen at the same time the SP is weakening.
