"Between 1966 and 1968 the Electrolytic Zinc Company of Australia explored pegmatites in the area for lithium, tin and tantalum mineralisation. A considerable tonnage of mineralised pegmatite was identified however it was deemed not economically feasible to mine the deposit and so they withdrew from the area in 1970."
The above was extracted from the 2014 Report by Trafford Resources on the Lynas Find Asset. But what is "the area"???
I tracked down the old and basic EZ report (No 1820) that deals with this Li exploration.
The considerable tonnage identified was :
Pegmatites Probable 1.56 million ton at 1.2% Li2O
Possible 0.44 million tons
Doubtful 0.60 million tons
(yes pretty primitive..)
Its location is cited as "Mt York is about 1 mile south of the lease area" plus The Lease coordinates are cited as 21.166S,118.833E which can be plugged directly into the Google Earth search box.
I think that working on the Mt York gold deposit shown, this puts the above ore reserve at the botton end of the Iron Stirrup block, which just happens to be one of the four Targets indicated by MPJ on 25th Feb. This also coincides with that Radiometric strike running right along that Iron Stirrup block (northern block)
Someone with good skills in Plotting might like to confirm this because it is important. My positioning is rough.
EZ were only putting their toe in the water... and one does not detect any great enthusiasm for Lithium in those days.
As for the gold in Pilbara, as the Trafford Report says... page 31
"The Old Faithful resource is the key to the Lynas Find asset".
That is why MPJ is concentrating on it. Trafford know the resource inside out, and it has an ocean of data and a sea of drill holes done. Just needs a good assault plan from brilliant geo's.
For the EZ report....
Go to : http://www.dmp.wa.gov.au/WAMEX-Minerals-Exploration-1476.aspx
click on Access WAMEX in red box
GeoVIEW.WA comes up, select WAMEX Seach on toolbar, which is the default setting. Then in item No., type in 1820... and then Click on Search
This will bring up the Electrolytic Zinc Report on Lithium exploration, and click on Contents.
