Even though SI's are just people that meet a certain asset threshold (and at this end of the market don't think a blind eye is turned to those thresholds when a company needs money) I can't say I feel sorry for anyone who invests in anything unless they're flat out misled. We're all big boys and girls with responsibility for our own actions. Someone is on the opposite end of every trade you make.
An SI doesn't necessarily get any crucial information not released to the market. I'm sure it happens and just talking to management as a normal holder you might get a snippet of info not in releases but it's not like you get a call with insider trading info to get you to hand over you money. At least not in my limited experience. You might get extra details on how things will be done or a lead on more information but not a definitive heads up on a farm in or anything. Mostly. I'm sure it happens a lot though.
