Ahh, you know a company is doing well when they have issued so many shares and destroyed the share price that they have to consolidate, just to do it all over again!
History says post consolidation the share price will peter away into the abyss, not directly linked to the consolidation itself, but rather driven by the fact that companies which need to consolidate are required to take such an act because there are fundamental flaws in their business.
Changing the amount of shares on issue won't fix that, its a bandaid solution to mask over the fact to lure new shareholders. Kinda like how a company would change their name to hide their history, oh wait, didnt CGP used to be HCG? Smoke and mirrors, smoke and mirrors.
The consolidation will make it easier for those holders 'stuck' to sell out at a better loss instead of being forced to take a 20% hit from the current price. The problem is though, alot of other people will have that same thinking and that will set the wheels in motion of another long and slow downtrend.
Take a look at the history of consolidations on the ASX, rarely any ever make it back above their post consolidation price with out another consolidation!
