target area = central depression

in the central depression the Shanxi and Taiyuan seams [most prospective coal seams] are ~1500-2000m deep

most commercial CBM is 150-1000m deep

Shanxi and Taiyuan seams were intersected at shallower depths, around the outskirts of the central depression, but all the faulting makes for poor gas traps and inconsistent seams

so the other target is the tight sands at shallower depth

but water and porosity in the sands are very... variable so you can't quite model/expect solid gas resources
