Goodaye JGPM - yep they can only raise their bid IF there is a competing bid.
The bid is Final. Full stop. That's what the Truth in Takeovers they refer to is all about.
If there is no competing bid, then they cannot raise their bid at all.
If no competing bid, then they have to wait until the bid expires, then come back with a new offer.
So I reckon in some ways, it backs them into a corner - but it is all designed to put pressure on everyone, incl s/h and potential bidders.
I'm hoping Monday brings some better news.
