It is clear that Mahatir will have to make a move on his recalcitrant junior ministers, moving the plant out of Malaysia will be a serious embarrassment for Malaysia. No first world country will want to set up again when you have such clowns making decisions that even go against their own scientists report.
The continual misrepresentation about the waste being radioactive also needs to be corrected. As many have pointed out, the radioactivity of the waste is less than some of the surrounding areas in Kwantan province. It can be used for road construction or fertilisers.
The other important factor is, this is the only operating plant outside of China, you force it to close down, then you will be reliant on Chinese rare earths product - strategically this is very dangerous at many levels.
The way I see it play like typical Malaysia policies, it will go through the courts, the courts speak in favour of Lynas, the Ministers involved will have egg on their face and Mahatir will replace them with his own party faithful - so in essence a Malaysian political plot is happening. Give the other party enough rope to hang themselves.
